据加拿大卫生部消息，8月19日加拿大卫生部发布通知，修订允许的载体或萃取溶剂列表，批准甲醇作为生产甜菊糖苷的溶剂，最大用量为 200 ppm，于 2014 年 8 月 19 日生效。

    目前加拿大批准甲醇作为溶剂用于天然提取物、香料提取物、啤酒花提取物，以及肉与禽蛋的标印油墨。

    Health Canada's Food Directorate completed a detailed safety assessment of the use of methyl alcohol （methanol） as an extraction solvent for steviol glycosides.

    Methyl alcohol （methanol） is already permitted for use in Canada as a solvent in natural extractives, spice extracts, hop extract as well as in meat and egg marking inks.

    As no safety concerns were raised through this assessment, the Department has enabled the food additive use described in the information document by the  List of Permitted Carrier or Extraction  Solvents, effective August 19, 2014.
